South Africa To Ghana: Final Group of Ghanaians in South Africa Set for Homecoming on July 25

Hundreds of Ghanaian nationals living in South Africa will begin their journey home later this month as the government kicks off the last phase of its voluntary return program.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the exercise, starting July 25, 2026, will close out a repatriation process that started months ago to assist citizens who requested to return due to economic and social challenges abroad.

According to officials, the High Commission in Pretoria has been working with community leaders to compile the final list of returnees and verify travel documents.

Returnees will be flown back in batches and received by a joint government team in Accra. Support services including counseling, temporary accommodation, and reintegration assistance will be provided on arrival.

“Our goal is to ensure a dignified and smooth return for every Ghanaian who wants to come home,” a Foreign Affairs spokesperson said.

The government is also encouraging all Ghanaians in the diaspora to stay connected to Ghana missions for consular support and updates on welfare programs.
