Moses Aglina Takes Over NPP Leadership in Ketu North After Tight Contest

KETU NORTH, Aug. 9, 24HourNews – Delegates in Ketu North have chosen Mr. Moses Kwame Aglina as their new NPP Constituency Chairman, ending the tenure of acting chairman Mr. Mac-Thomson Gbeti in a keenly contested election.

The polls, held in Dzodze on Saturday, saw Mr. Aglina secure 613 votes to beat Mr. Gbeti who had 513 votes. Out of 1,203 expected delegates, 1,130 cast their ballots. District Electoral Officer, Mr. Dominic Agbanu, announced the results and swore in the full slate of new executives.

Joining Mr. Aglina on the new executive team are Mr. Joseph Adukpo as First Vice Chairman, Mr. Luther Agbatornu as Second Vice Chairman, Mr. Raindolph Eli Philipson Dzokoto as Secretary, and Mr. Joseph Kwadzo Nyagah as Deputy Secretary. The rest include Mr. Christian Quaku Tornyo, Treasurer; Mr. James Agbodza, Organiser; Madam Magdaline Gemadzi, Women’s Organiser; Mr. Prince Kwadzo Gbadago, Youth Organiser; Mr. Louis Martin Gomashie, Communications Officer; and Mr. Awudu Gero, Nasara Coordinator, who went unopposed.

Mr. Maxwell Koffie Lugudor, who chaired the Elections Committee, described the process as peaceful and transparent. He charged the new leaders to put unity first and work to reposition the party in the constituency.

Speaking after his victory, Mr. Aglina thanked the Electoral Commission, the Police, the Elections Committee and delegates for a smooth exercise. He said the campaign may have been intense, but members showed maturity and discipline.

He described his election as the start of a new chapter for the NPP in Ketu North and urged both winners and losers to set differences aside.
“We are all working for the New Patriotic Party. Our duty is to build bridges and unite the party,” he stated.

Mr. Aglina pledged to run an inclusive administration and not a one-man show. He said his immediate focus will be to restore the party’s grassroots strength, mobilize the youth, and rebuild structures that once made Ketu North a stronghold for the NPP.

He also paid tribute to Mr. Gbeti, saying the experience he gathered over the last four years will be useful to the new team.

Outlining his vision, Mr. Aglina revealed a 10-point agenda aimed at reviving the party’s fortunes. According to him, unity and hard work are needed if the NPP is to win back the confidence of voters and return to power in 2028. He further cautioned supporters to celebrate responsibly and avoid actions that could deepen divisions.

“Victory is good, but we must remember those who didn’t win. The real work starts now, and it is about reaching out to everyone,” he added.
