Hon. Eric Edem Agbana Meets Education Minister Over Proposed Upgrade Of Ohawu Agricultural College To University

Accra – 24Hour News – August 4, 2026 – Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Hon. Eric Edem Agbana, has joined traditional leaders and NDC regional executives to meet with the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, to advance key educational priorities for the Volta Region.

The delegation included the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Togbi Tepre Hodo IV; the Vice President, Togbi Dzekle Patamia VII; the Paramount Chief of the Afife Traditional Area, Togbui Adrakpanya VI; the Volta Regional Chairman of the NDC and his Vice Chairman; and members of the Afife Traditional Council.

 

Speaking after the meeting, Hon. Agbana said the primary focus was the proposed upgrade of Ohawu Agricultural College into a fully-fledged university.

“I am encouraged by the Minister’s firm commitment to this transformative initiative,” he stated. “He indicated that Government will begin the process by providing the necessary infrastructure and resources, followed by the legislative framework required to establish the university.”

The delegation also discussed critical infrastructure needs in selected schools across the Volta Region.

Hon. Agbana commended the Minister for his openness and willingness to work with traditional authorities and stakeholders.

“I commend the Minister for his openness and commitment to working with traditional authorities and other stakeholders to expand access to quality education,” he said.

“We remain committed to working together to ensure these important initiatives are delivered for the benefit of our people and future generations,” Hon. Agbana added.
