Minister Tours GSFP Caterer Training Centres In Greater Accra To Boost School Meal Quality

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, together with the National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), Hajia Fati Forgor, and members of the Programme’s management, on Friday, July 31, 2026, toured selected caterer training centres in the Greater Accra Region.

The visit formed part of the ongoing nationwide nutrition training for GSFP caterers and cooks.

With support from the World Bank, the training is designed to strengthen the capacity of GSFP caterers by equipping them with practical skills in nutrition, food safety, hygiene and quality meal preparation. The goal is to enhance the health and wellbeing of beneficiary pupils.

During the tour, the Minister and GSFP management interacted with participants and facilitators, and observed practical training sessions to assess progress.

At the AMA training centre, the Mayor of Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, joined the Minister, the GSFP National Coordinator and her team to sample meals prepared by the caterers based on the training received.

Dr. Naa Momo Lartey expressed satisfaction with the enthusiasm and commitment demonstrated by the caterers. She urged them to put the knowledge gained into practice by consistently serving nutritious, safe and quality meals to pupils under the Programme.

Hajia Fati Forgor commended the caterers for embracing the opportunity to improve their skills. She also thanked the World Bank for its continued support towards strengthening the Ghana School Feeding Programme.

The nationwide training forms part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality of meals served in public basic schools and promote better nutrition among beneficiary pupils across the country.
