“Government takes the position that all District Chief Executives should be elected – Dr. Dominic Ayine

The Government has declared its support for the election of all District Chief Executives across the country.

This was contained in the Constitution Review Committee Report presented on Wednesday.

Speaking on the matter, the Minister for Justice and Attorney-General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, said the position forms part of government’s commitment to deepen decentralization and democratic governance at the local level.

“Government takes the position that all District Chief Executives should be elected,” Dr. Ayine stated.

The proposal is expected to generate debate as stakeholders consider implications for local governance, accountability, and party politics.
