Ketu North MCE Engages Weta Queen Mothers On Market, Security And Sanitation Needs

The Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu North, Hon. Martin Amenaki, has met with queen mothers from the Weta Traditional Council to discuss key development challenges in the area.

Mamaga Ablewor IV, Paramount Queen Mother of the Weta Traditional Council, led the delegation to the MCE’s office this morning following a prior appointment. The queen mothers presented a letter outlining requests for special support to advance development in the traditional area.

Top on the list was the rehabilitation of the Weta Market. The MCE noted that the market currently has limited shed space that is in poor condition, and lacks toilet and urinal facilities.

The delegation also requested the renovation of the police station at Ehi, or the construction of a new one, due to rising crime in the community. Other appeals included the provision of skip containers, and support for road and water projects.

Hon. Amenaki assured the queen mothers of the Assembly’s commitment to help address the concerns.

On security, Mamaga Ablewor appealed that the absence of a police station in Ehi has created a vacuum and contributed to increasing crime. The community is working to build a new police station, but the main challenge is land allocation.

The MCE urged the community to secure the land without litigation so that the MP can support the construction of a new police station. He added that, alternatively, the Assembly will rehabilitate the old police station and then apply to the Inspector General of Police for it to be reopened for the people of Ehi.

The queen mothers expressed gratitude for the warm reception.
