Ketu North: Work Begins On Dadame Culvert As Tadzewu Residents Breathe A Sigh Of Relief

Relief has finally come to the people of Tadzewu in the Ketu North Municipality as construction works have officially started on the long-abandoned Dadame Culvert.

Contractors, Timeline and Innovation Limited, moved to the site on Thursday, July 30, 2026, and have begun clearing the area in preparation for the full reconstruction of the culvert along the Tadzewu Zongo–Wosset road.

The project comes after years of petitions, protests, and appeals by residents who described the broken crossing as a “death trap.” The culvert collapsed in 2019 and since then, farmers, traders, students, and commuters have struggled to cross, especially during the rainy season.

Pressure intensified recently after a tragic incident in the Dadame River claimed the life of a young girl, Edoe Dedzo. The incident pushed local leaders to act fast. Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Meli Atipoe, tabled the issue at the Ketu North Municipal Assembly and demanded urgent action.

The push paid off through the joint efforts of Ketu North MP, Hon. Eric Edem Agbana, Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Rev. Martin Amenaki, and the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, who worked with central government to get the project approved.

Residents who gathered at the site today welcomed the development with joy. Many say the new culvert will not only make travel safer but also boost trade and farming in Tadzewu and surrounding villages.

“For six years we have suffered. Today we are hopeful that our children can go to school and our goods can reach the market without fear,” one resident said.

Authorities say the project is part of a broader plan to fix critical road infrastructure in Ketu North and improve safety and connectivity across the municipality.
