Ho, Sept. 30, 24HourNews – The Volta Regional Football Association has appealed to the Asogli State over the planned Shatta Fest concert scheduled for the Ho Sports Stadium this weekend.
On Monday, a delegation led by Chairman Daniel Agbogah paid a courtesy visit to the traditional authorities to express concerns about the event being held on the football pitch.
He was joined by Regional Secretary Michael Promise Ahiagba, Prophet Bright Brampah, Home Stars FC Administrator Starboy and Kofi Ganyo.
The FA clarified that they are not against the Shatta Fest itself, but are concerned about the timing and the damage the event could cause to the playing field.
According to the Association, they asked the Asogli State whether they were aware of the event, to which the traditional authorities responded that they had no knowledge of it.
The delegation therefore pleaded with the Asogli State, as custodians of the land, to intervene and help relocate the event to another venue.
The FA noted that football activities are currently ongoing and their efforts to develop the game in the region could be undermined if the concert is held on the pitch.
If the event goes ahead on the pitch, Home Stars FC and Nukunu FC, who use the Ho Sports Stadium as their home ground, would have to look elsewhere for weeks as the pitch would be damaged.
The FA believes the organizers did not consider the future of youth football and the hard work put in by the Association to improve the game in the region.
