Nana Abena Etruba I Visits Ancestral Home Alakple

Alakple, Sept. 30, 24HourNews – Her Royal Majesty Nana Abena Etruba I, Benkumhene of Gomoa Amanful in the Adonten Division of the Gomoa Assin Traditional Area, has paid a symbolic visit to her ancestral home of Alakple in the Volta Region.

The visit, which took place on Sunday, September 27, 2026, marked her first return to the community where her deeper ancestral roots are traced. Alakple is regarded as one of the oldest settlements in Anlo.

Nana Etruba I, who is also a global business executive and a double chartered accountant, is known by her subjects as a modern day Woman King for her advocacy for female empowerment and professional excellence. She descends from the Nugbemado and Ziddah families, with links to the Torgbi Tay-Agbozo Royal Family of Dzelukope-Keta and the Tenge Dzokoto Gligui Royal Family of Anyako, but traces her roots further to Alakple.

On her arrival, she was met at the entrance of the town by the Dufia’s royal staff, linguist and council of elders. A 14-gun salute was fired to announce the start of a royal procession through the principal streets to the Dufia’s palace.

At the palace, she was received by Togbi Amey Zegu II, Dufia of Alakple, together with Nyiglanua Nyatepe Nazah Kudese, Togbiwo, Mamawo, Dumegawo, Nyornudadawo and representatives of the National Management Council of the Alakple Development Association.

The people of Alakple accorded her a warm and dignified welcome, describing the visit as a homecoming of a daughter.

The visit was climaxed with the presentation of a special gift to Nana Etruba I by Togbi Amey Zegu II and the people of Alakple as a symbol of their embrace and connection to her heritage.
