Wuxor, Sept. 27, 24HourNews – Fifteen students from the Wuxor, Have and Sremanu Electoral Area in the Akatsi South Municipality who have gained admission to Senior High School have received educational support to aid their transition.
The support package, which included 15 mattresses, 15 chop boxes, exercise books, notebooks and pens, was presented on Friday at the Wuxor M/A Basic School.
The items were donated by Sergeant Ofosu Kwakye of the Akatsi Police Command and Madam Mavis Adih.
In a remarkable act of generosity, Sergeant Ofosu Kwakye disclosed that he sold his personal motorbike to raise funds for the initiative, describing education as a worthy cause worth personal sacrifice.
His action has drawn admiration from residents, with many describing him as an example of community-driven policing that goes beyond law enforcement duties.
The Assemblymember for the Wuxor, Have and Sremanu Electoral Area received the items on behalf of the beneficiaries and expressed gratitude to the donors for their timely intervention.
He said the support came at a critical time when many parents are struggling to provide basic boarding needs for their wards as they prepare for SHS.
According to him, the gesture is not only about mattresses and books but also about motivating the students and showing them that their community believes in their future.
He also commended the headmaster and teachers of Wuxor M/A Basic School for their dedication in preparing the students for the Basic Education Certificate Examination, noting that the success of the 15 students reflects teamwork between teachers, parents and the community.
Parents and guardians who were present at the short presentation ceremony could not hide their joy, thanking the police officer and Madam Adih for easing their burden.
The Assemblymember urged the beneficiaries to study hard and justify the sacrifices made for them as they begin their Senior High School journey.
