Penyi, Sept. 25, 24HourNews – The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, will at exactly 1:00 pm today visit the bereaved family of the late Madam Mariama Gbemu at Penyi in the Ketu North Municipality.
Madam Gbemu tragically lost her life on Wednesday during the ongoing Dzodze-Penyi road construction under the Big Push initiative.
Hon. Gunu will also visit other persons who were involved in the same accident and have since been discharged from the hospital.
The visit is to console the bereaved family, commiserate with the affected victims, and express condolences and sympathies on behalf of the government and the Volta Regional Coordinating Council.
This follows an earlier visit this morning by the Ketu North MCE, Hon. Martin Amenaki, who together with staff of the Municipal Assembly, visited the family of the late Mariama at Penyi.
During his visit, Hon. Amenaki disclosed that the Ketu North District Police Command has commenced investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and said he has instructed the contractors to do the needful.
The Regional Minister is expected to assess the situation on the ground and engage stakeholders in enforcing strict safety measures at the construction site to prevent future occurrences.
