Ketu North MCE Consoles Bereaved Family Of Woman Who Died At Dzodze-Penyi Road Construction Site, Visits Accident Victim

Penyi, Sept. 25, 24HourNews – The Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu North, Hon. Martin Amenaki, has visited the bereaved family of the late Madam Mariama Gbemu at Penyi to console them following her tragic death.

Hon. Amenaki, together with the Municipal Coordinating Director and staff of the Ketu North Municipal Assembly, visited the family on Thursday morning, September 25, 2025.

Madam Mariama Gbemu lost her life on Wednesday morning at the ongoing Dzodze-Penyi road construction site, a project being executed under the government’s Big Push road infrastructure programme.

According to the MCE, the visit was to personally console the family, express his deepest sympathy, and stand with them in this moment of deep grief. On behalf of the Assembly and on his own behalf, he extended heartfelt condolences to the entire family and described the loss as extremely painful.

The team also visited Mr. George Gadegbeku, who was also involved in the accident on the same day.

Hon. Amenaki disclosed that the Ketu North District Police Command has commenced full investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the untimely death.

He assured the family of his personal support and that of the Assembly during this difficult period. He added that he has engaged the contractors working on the Dzodze-Penyi stretch and instructed them to do the needful, including providing the necessary support to the family and ensuring strict adherence to all safety protocols at the construction site.

He stressed that while the Dzodze-Penyi road is a very important project for the people of Ketu North, the safety and lives of the people remain paramount and cannot be compromised.

He said the Assembly will continue to follow up on the matter and provide updates as appropriate.
