Ho, Sept. 25, 24HourNews – The Volta Regional Football Association has held talks with the National Sports Authority in Volta over reports that the Ho Sports Stadium will be used for the 2026 Shatta Fest concert.
The meeting took place on Thursday, September 25, following speculations that the stadium has been booked for the event which is expected to be headlined by Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale.
The RFA delegation was led by its Chairman, Daniel Agbogah. He was accompanied by Secretary Michael Promise Ahiagba, Executive Committee member Muntala and another member, Oxygen. They met with the Volta Regional Administrator of the NSA, Madam Jennifer Kokumah, her team and representatives of Division One League side Home Stars FC.
According to the RFA, the engagement was to seek clarification on the reports and to express concern over why the football association was not consulted before any arrangement was made.
The Association also raised concerns about the state of the pitch, warning that any damage from the event could affect home matches of Division One League clubs Home Stars FC and Nukunu FC.
Responding to the concerns, Madam Kokumah explained that her outfit was initially told the event was an MTN-organised show and was assured that the playing pitch would not be used.
She said the organisers have now disclosed that Shatta Wale will headline the show and that no final agreement has been reached yet.
Madam Kokumah assured the RFA that her office is equally concerned about protecting the pitch and said the organisers are expected to return on Friday, September 26, for further discussions. She added that the RFA will be invited to be part of that meeting.
The Shatta Fest is reportedly scheduled for October 3, 2026.
