Ho, Sept. 23, 24HourNews – The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export-Import Bank, Hon. Sylvester Mensah, has announced that the Volta Region will host the next Garment and Apparel Factory to be established by the Bank.
Hon. Mensah made the announcement during an engagement on the Bank’s industrialization agenda, noting that the Volta Region has been strategically selected due to its vast human resource potential and readiness for industrial investment.
According to him, the project forms part of Ghana EXIM Bank’s broader vision to drive export-led industrialization, reduce import dependency, and create sustainable jobs across the country.
“The next Garment and Apparel Factory to be established by the Ghana EXIM Bank will be located in the Volta Region. This is a deliberate step to bring industrialization closer to the people and unlock the economic potential of the region,” he stated.
The factory, when completed, is expected to serve as a major hub for garment production, providing direct and indirect jobs for thousands of youth and women, while boosting skills development in fashion, tailoring, and textile manufacturing.
It is also expected to strengthen Ghana’s apparel export capacity under initiatives such as the African Growth and Opportunity Act, and support local businesses operating within the textile value chain.
Hon. Mensah emphasized that the Bank remains committed to supporting government’s 24-Hour Economy and export development agenda through strategic investments in productive sectors.
He assured that feasibility studies and stakeholder engagements are already underway to ensure the successful execution of the project.
The announcement has been met with excitement across the Volta Region, with many describing it as a timely intervention that will stimulate economic growth, curb youth unemployment, and position the region as a key player in Ghana’s industrial transformation agenda.
