Government Committed To Transforming Sports Infrastructure – NSA Boss

The Director General of the National Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, says President John Dramani Mahama is “totally committed to the transformation of sports infrastructure in Ghana.”

Mr. Ampofo Ankrah made the remarks during an inspection tour of the Ho Sports Stadium in the Volta Region.

He noted that the ongoing assessment of facilities forms part of a broader national agenda to upgrade and expand sports infrastructure across the country.

“The Ho stadium inspection is just one example of his vision to spread development across the country,” the NSA Director General stated.

He stressed that the Mahama administration is prioritizing equitable distribution of sports facilities to unearth talents and promote youth development in all regions, not just in Accra and Kumasi.

The Ho Sports Stadium, when fully upgraded, is expected to host regional and national competitions and serve as a training base for athletes in the Volta and Oti Regions.

Mr. Ampofo Ankrah assured stakeholders that the NSA will work closely with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and local authorities to ensure timely completion of ongoing projects.

He also called on the private sector to partner with government in investing in sports infrastructure, describing it as key to job creation and national unity.
