The Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Operations at the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Kwesi Dzokoto, has donated relief items and cash to support flood victims across 30 affected communities in Keta and Anloga.
The donation, made through the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), included 500 pairs of Wellington boots for residents in flood-hit areas. Dr. Dzokoto also provided GH¢20,000 to NADMO to support the transportation and distribution of relief items.
In addition, GH¢10,000 was given to the NHIA Keta and Anloga offices to facilitate free NHIA registration and renewal for affected persons. The Health Directorate also received GH¢15,000 to aid healthcare delivery in the impacted communities.
Presenting the Wellington boots on behalf of Dr. Dzokoto, Mr. Sevor Prosper, Director of NHIA for Keta and Anloga, explained that the Volta Region monitoring exercise, which began in Keta on 11th July 2026, exposed the extent of damage caused by the floods. “This is what boosted Mr. Dzokoto to make these donations, and more are coming from him,” Mr. Sevor said.
Mr. Jeff Amekuadi, Principal Manager at the NHIA Head Office, presented the cash donations on behalf of his boss. He disclosed that additional relief items, including mosquito nets, will be delivered soon to help prevent malaria outbreaks in the affected communities.
Receiving the items, Mr. Wonder Deynu, the NADMO Director at Keta, applauded Dr. Dzokoto for the timely intervention. He assured that all donations would be distributed transparently to the 30 affected communities and thanked the NHIA for prioritizing the health and welfare of flood victims.
The recent floods in parts of Keta and Anloga displaced several households, destroyed farms, and disrupted access to health services. The free NHIA registration is expected to ensure affected residents can access medical care without financial barriers during the recovery period.
