Ablakwa Calls for Honest Introspection on Causes of Conflict in Africa

Luanda – Aug. 31 – 24HourNews – The Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has called on African leaders to undertake honest introspection into the real causes of conflict on the continent.

Hon. Ablakwa made the call when he addressed the African Union Executive Council’s extraordinary meeting on Conflict Resolution and Prevention held in Angola yesterday.

He demanded an immediate end to the normalization of conflict and extremism on the continent, warning that time is running out in the quest to create a new and transformed Africa.

In his presentation, the Minister urged African leaders to focus attention on what he described as the real drivers of conflict, including injustice, lack of opportunities for the youth, underdevelopment, corruption, resource exploitation, intolerance, insincerity and serving as pawns for proxy forces.

He reminded colleague African Foreign Ministers that the recent images of over 72,000 young Africans who breached fences to enter Ceuta in Spain should underscore the urgency of silencing the guns and the need to divert resources from funding conflicts to creating jobs for the youth.
