ccra – Aug. 29 – 24HourNews – Ghana and Korea are set to deepen their development cooperation as the two countries approach 50 years of diplomatic relations in 2027.
The Ambassador made this known after welcoming Dr. Do Young-A, Group Executive Director of KOICA, and Mr. Choi Joon-ho, Director of the Africa Team, to the Chancery.
According to the Ambassador, KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) represents more than development assistance, but Korea’s own journey from a recipient of international aid to a country that now shares its experience, knowledge, technology, and human capacity with partners around the world.
He noted that for Ghana, there is enormous potential to take the partnership to the next level, disclosing that during their meeting, they had wide-ranging and candid discussions on what new and meaningful projects can be developed together in Ghana.
“Projects that go beyond individual programs and create lasting impact for communities, institutions and young people, building capabilities, creating opportunities, and connecting people and institutions so that the partnership continues to produce value long after a project has ended,” he stated.
The Ambassador said as Ghana and Korea approach the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027, it is an important moment to think boldly about the next chapter of the partnership.
He reiterated his commitment to continue working with KOICA, the Government of Ghana, Korean institutions, and partners to identify areas where Korea’s experience and Ghana’s ambitions can meet and turn those ideas into practical, sustainable, and transformative projects.
“There is much more we can do together. And I believe the next 50 years of Korea–Ghana relations should be even more ambitious than the first,” he added.
