Oti: Zoomlion Intensifies 7-Day Disinfection Exercise After Floods.  

Dambai – Aug. 28 – 24HourNews – Zoomlion Ghana Limited has intensified a seven-day disinfection and disinfestation exercise across the Oti Region as part of efforts to prevent disease outbreaks and improve environmental sanitation following recent flooding in parts of the region.

The exercise, being carried out in collaboration with the region’s nine Municipal and District Assemblies, targets markets, public toilets, drains, refuse sites, flood-prone communities and other areas identified as potential breeding grounds for disease vectors and harmful pathogens.

According to management of Zoomlion, the exercise has become necessary after floodwaters inundated several communities, leaving behind stagnant water, waste and contaminated surfaces that could trigger cholera, malaria, typhoid and other water-borne and vector-borne diseases.

The team is using specialized disinfection equipment, knapsack sprayers and fogging machines to disinfect public facilities and disinfest gutters, refuse dumps and waterlogged areas.

Officials of the company said the intervention will focus on high-risk zones including Biakoye, Krachi East, Krachi West, Krachi Nchumuru and other districts where flooding was severe.

The Municipal and District Assemblies have commended Zoomlion for the timely intervention and urged residents to cooperate with the exercise by cleaning their surroundings, desilting drains and observing good hygiene practices.

Residents have also been advised to boil drinking water, wash hands regularly with soap under running water, and report any unusual health symptoms to the nearest health facility.

Zoomlion assured that similar exercises would be replicated in other affected regions to support government’s efforts at safeguarding public health after the floods.
