Ketu North MP Clears SHS Furniture Deficit With 4,000 Desks, Targets Basic Schools By 2028.

Accra – Aug. 26 – 24HourNews – The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Hon. Eric Edem Agbana, has announced a major breakthrough in education infrastructure in the constituency with the provision of 4,000 mono desks to four Senior High Schools.

The intervention, which the MP says has effectively ended the furniture deficit at the second-cycle level, was made possible through the support of the Government of Ghana via the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

In a statement, Hon. Agbana disclosed that all four SHSs in Ketu North have benefited from the distribution exercise, ensuring that no student is left to sit on the floor or share desks under overcrowded conditions.

“By God’s Grace and with the support of the government through GETFUND, we have effectively solved the furniture deficit in our four Senior High Schools with the provision of 4,000 mono desks,” he said.

The MP stated that the gesture forms part of his broader vision to create a conducive learning environment for every child in the constituency. He noted that inadequate furniture has over the years affected concentration, attendance and academic performance, particularly in rural schools.

With the SHS deficit addressed, Hon. Agbana says attention will now shift to basic schools, where similar challenges persist.

“Next is to solve the furniture deficit at the Basic Schools. It will be done. By 2028, every school child in our beloved constituency will have a decent desk in the classroom,” he assured.

He emphasized that the target is not just political rhetoric but a measurable commitment that his office will work towards with GETFund and other stakeholders.

Residents, teachers and students in the constituency have welcomed the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful as schools prepare for the new academic year.

Hon. Agbana concluded with an assurance of more developmental projects to come.
