Mahama Signs Ten Key Bills Into Law To Strengthen Legal, Economic And Security Frameworks.

Accra – Aug. 26 – 24HourNews – President John Dramani Mahama has assented to ten Bills passed by Parliament into law, in a major move to strengthen Ghana’s legal, economic, energy, security and institutional frameworks.

The signing ceremony marks a significant milestone in the government’s legislative agenda aimed at reforming key sectors of the economy and governance.

The newly enacted laws are:

– Customs Act, 2026

– Community Service Act, 2026

– Tribunals Act, 2026

– Maritime and Related Offences Act, 2026

– National Defence University Act, 2026

– Income Tax (Amendment) Act, 2026

– Energy Sector Levies (Amendment) Act, 2026

– Ghana Cocoa Board Act, 2026

– Value Added Tax (Amendment) Act, 2026

– Excise Act, 2026

The package covers critical areas including taxation, energy, cocoa sector regulation, maritime security, alternative sentencing and defence education.

Government officials say the new laws will enhance revenue mobilisation, improve efficiency in the energy and cocoa sectors, strengthen national security and modernise the country’s judicial and customs systems.

The Presidency is expected to provide detailed highlights of the provisions and implementation timelines for each Act in the coming days.
