Anlo Launches Hogbetsotso Za 2026 With Call for National Unity  

Tegbi, Oct. 1, 24HourNews – The chiefs and people of Anlo have officially launched the 2026 edition of the Hogbetsotso Za festival.

The launch was held at the Eli Beach Resort at Tegbi in the Volta Region, marking the start of activities for this year’s celebration.

It was organised by the Hogbetsotso 2026 Local Planning Committee and brought together traditional leaders, MMDCEs, security chiefs, the media and other key stakeholders.

The event was presided over by Togbi Agbesi Awusu II, Awadada of Anlo Dukor.

In attendance were Awoamezitor, H.E Hon. Dan Abodakpi, Togbi Gbodzi III, Dusi Fiaga of Anlo Dukor, Togbi Nyaxo Tamakloe VI, Mia Fiaga of Anlo Dukor, Togbi Zewu IV, Chairman of the Planning Committee, as well as Chiefs, Queen Mothers and traditional warriors of Anlo.

The MCEs and DCEs within Anlo, Divisional and District Police Commanders of Keta and Anloga, and members of the media were also present.

Addressing the gathering, the Planning Committee stressed the crucial role of the media in projecting Anlo’s rich history and culture to the world.

According to them, Hogbetsotso is more than drumming and dancing. It is a symbol of the resilience, unity and liberty of the Anlo people, rooted in their historic escape from Notsie under King Agorkoli.

This year’s festival will be celebrated under the theme: “Anlo, Our Heritage and Our Values: Striving to Build One Ghana for a Better Tomorrow.”

The theme, the organisers said, reflects the commitment of Anlo to national cohesion, peace and development.

The Committee officially declared Hogbetsotso Za 2026 launched and called on all Anlos, both home and abroad, to participate fully in the activities lined up for the celebration.
