Denu, Sept. 28, 24HourNews – The Denu Police Command has recovered a Chevrolet Spark vehicle with registration number AT 2663-26, which is alleged to have been stolen in Accra and was being conveyed to Aflao for sale.
The vehicle was intercepted following intelligence-led operations by officers from the Denu Police Station.
Police sources say officers acted on a tip-off that a suspicious vehicle, allegedly stolen in Accra, was being offered for sale in Denu. The officers swiftly traced the vehicle to a fitting shop near the Denu Lagoon where it had been parked pending a buyer.
At the scene, officers arrested 27-year-old Ahiatsi Macbeth, who is alleged to be connected to the theft.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to stealing the vehicle from Sakumono Beach in Accra and transporting it to the border town of Aflao with the intention of selling it for GH¢35,000.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while the recovered vehicle has been secured as an exhibit.
The Denu Police Command says processes have commenced to trace the alleged rightful owner of the vehicle.
The development has attracted commendation from residents who praised the police for their professionalism and swift response.
Police have cautioned the public against buying vehicles without proper documentation and have urged anyone with information on similar activities to report to the nearest police station.
