Dzodze, Sept. 24, 24HourNews – The Management of newly promoted Division One League side, Nukunu Football Club, has announced that the club will use the Ho Sports Stadium as its home venue for the upcoming season until further notice.
This was contained in an official statement issued by the club on Tuesday, following its historic qualification to the Division One League.
According to the statement, Management’s initial priority was to develop and upgrade DZOSEC Park in Dzodze as its permanent home ground. However, following a comprehensive technical assessment by relevant experts, it was determined that the scope of works required to meet the prescribed Club Licensing standards could not be practically completed within the available timeframe.
Consequently, Management was compelled to discontinue DZOSEC Park as its immediate home venue option.
The Club subsequently identified the Akatsi College of Education Park at Akatsi as a temporary alternative and formally invited the Club Licensing Department to inspect the facility and provide guidance on the requisite improvements.
Management said it engaged extensively with the authorities of Akatsi College of Education, the Municipal Assembly, and all relevant stakeholders, and invested significant efforts to improve the playing surface and ancillary facilities to the required standard.
However, the final inspection has been concluded and regrettably, the pitch has not been granted approval for use at this time.
Management acknowledged that as a newly promoted Division One club, the availability of a certified home venue is fundamental to its participation and competitiveness in the league, and said it views the prevailing uncertainty with utmost seriousness.
Despite the setback, the club said it remains resolute and undeterred, and assured supporters that the team is working around the clock, engaging all relevant authorities and exploring every viable alternative to secure an approved home venue.
The club has therefore respectfully appealed to its supporters, partners and the entire Nukunu FC family to remain steadfast and united behind the club during this critical period, stressing that it is a time for collective resolve and unwavering support for the Wonder Boys.
Until further notice, the club will use the Ho Sports Stadium for its home fixtures.
Looking beyond the immediate challenge, Management said plans are already far advanced towards securing and developing a permanent, purpose-built stadium for the club, with the objective of completion by the end of the 2026/2027 football season.
“Our long-term vision remains clear: Nukunu Football Club must have a home worthy of its ambitions. We have come too far to be deterred by this temporary setback. We remain focused, we remain committed, and we remain confident,” the statement added.
