Dzodze, Sept. 24, 24HourNews – Management of newly promoted Division One League side, Nukunu Football Club, has revealed an ambitious long-term plan to build a permanent, purpose-built stadium for the club by the end of the 2026/2027 football season.
This was contained in paragraph 12 of the club’s official statement on its home match venue, issued on Wednesday, September 23.
According to the club, while it will temporarily adopt the Ho Sports Stadium as its home venue after DZOSEC Park in Dzodze and the Akatsi College of Education Park failed to meet Club Licensing requirements, its ultimate vision is to own a stadium worthy of its ambitions.
“Looking beyond the immediate challenge, Management wishes to assure our supporters that plans are already far advanced towards securing and developing a permanent, purpose-built stadium for the Club, with the objective of completion by the end of the 2026/2027 football season,” the statement said.
Management stressed that having a befitting home ground is central to the club’s long-term growth, competitiveness and identity as the Wonder Boys.
“Our long-term vision remains clear: Nukunu Football Club must have a home worthy of its ambitions. We have come too far to be deterred by this temporary setback. We remain focused, we remain committed, and we remain confident,” it added.
The club explained that its initial plan to upgrade DZOSEC Park could not materialize within the available timeframe due to the extensive works required to meet licensing standards, while the alternative Akatsi College of Education Park also failed to secure approval after final inspection, despite significant investments and stakeholder engagements.
Until the new stadium project is completed, Nukunu FC will honour all home fixtures at the Ho Sports Stadium and has appealed to supporters and partners to remain united behind the club during this transitional period.
The announcement of a purpose-built stadium has been welcomed by supporters who see it as a bold statement of intent from the Dzodze-based club following its historic qualification to the Division One League.
