Ho, Sept. 24, 24HourNews – Sports journalist Francis Agboyibor has responded to backlash over his recent post regarding the quality of the pitch at the Ho Sports Stadium.
In a statement posted on his personal handle, Agboyibor said some individuals had taken his post out of context and were attempting to twist his comments.
According to him, his post was solely about the quality of the playing surface at the Ho Sports Stadium and nothing more.
“Some people catch feelings over my post regarding the Ho Sports stadium pitch. The interesting part is they are trying so hard to twist my post. My post was about the quality of the playing surface/pitch at the Ho sports stadium,” he stated.
Agboyibor maintained that he is entitled to his opinion on his personal page and challenged those who disagree with him to engage him directly on his page rather than tagging him across other platforms.
“You guys can try to do offside arguments on your respective pages but none of you can tell me what to write on my personal handle. If you have issues with my post then I dare you guys to confront me on my page rather than tagging my handle across,” he said.
He stressed that journalism is not meant to support what others deem fit, insisting that he has the right to express his views without being subjected to insults.
“Journalism is not meant to support what others deem fit. I’m entitled to my opinions. If you claim you have issues with my post then go ahead and defend your counter arguments devoid of childish insults laced in your response,” he added.
The journalist questioned why his opinion should be considered invalid while others are deemed valid, and asked whether critics were owners of Nukunu FC or the Ho Sports Stadium.
“What makes your opinion valid and someone else’s invalid? Are you the owner of Nukunu FC? Does the Ho Sports stadium belong to you guys? Who doesn’t know the true nature of the Ho sports stadium pitch? If Nukunu FC qualified by playing on that pitch so what?” he quizzed.
Agboyibor further expressed disappointment at being labelled an enemy of the entire region for speaking against conditions at the stadium, describing it as hatred and lack of respect.
“You call someone an enemy of an entire region because they spoke against something in the region? This shows your level of hatred and lack of respect for others. If you think you are better than others in this industry then let it reflect in your work and the ethics attached to it,” he concluded.
