Keta To Host Ghana-Nigeria Beach Soccer AFCON Qualifier With 3-Day Tourism Festival In October 2026  

Keta, Sept. 22, 24HourNews – Keta is set to host a three-day Tourism and Beach Soccer Festival weekend from 16th to 18th October 2026, built around the Ghana-Nigeria Beach Soccer AFCON 2nd leg Qualifier.

The event will be held at the Keta Beach Soccer Arena at Emancipation Beach, according to a press statement issued by the Keta Beach Soccer and Tourism Initiative.

The initiative seeks to transform the qualifier into more than just a beach soccer match by creating a vibrant destination experience that brings together beach soccer, tourism, culture, food, music, entertainment, business and community participation.

The weekend begins on Friday, 16th October, with the Keta Tourism and Beach Soccer Forum, bringing together tourism stakeholders, investors, sports administrators, media, businesses and community leaders to explore opportunities around Keta’s beach economy and sports tourism potential.

Saturday, 17th October will feature the Keta Ghana-Nigeria Fun Day, including a supporters’ beach walk, fitness activities, beach games, the Great Jollof Battle, cultural performances, a Ghana-Nigeria DJ battle, artists performances and beach bonfire experience.

Sunday, 18th October, will culminate in the Ghana-Nigeria Beach Soccer AFCON Qualifier, supported by a supporters’ parade, fan activities and a post-match “One Beach, Two Nations” closing celebration.

The initiative is designed to showcase Keta’s beaches, hospitality, culture and sporting potential while creating opportunities for local businesses, tourism operators, young people, creatives and the wider community.

The Organising Group – Keta Beach Soccer and Tourism Initiative – is being coordinated by a team constituted as follows: Mr. Frank Yaovi Lawoe as Chairman with other members as Mr. Dzidodo Ruben Adjahoe, Mr. Freeman Gobah, Mr. Clifford Selasie Kekeshie, Mr. Emmanuel Apedo, Mr. Joel Degue and Mad. Marie-Laure Kudonou.

Additional members and technical support persons may be co-opted as necessary to strengthen the organisation of specific aspects of the programme.
