St. Anthony Hospital, Dzodze To Get Ultra-Modern Cancer Centre – The Third In Ghana

Dzodze, Sept. 20, 24HourNews – St. Anthony Hospital at Dzodze is set to benefit from an ultra-modern cancer centre following support from Regulus Investment and Financial Services and Providence Insurance Company.

The initiative comes at a time when the hospital is recording increasing cases of cancer in the southern part of the Volta Region, a situation authorities describe as worrying.

Established in 1960, St. Anthony Hospital has been grappling with aging equipment and facilities that require major expansion and upgrades to meet current demand.

Speaking on the project, the Hospital Administrator, Mr William Ladzaka, said the cancer centre is being funded by Regulus Investment and Financial Services through Providence Insurance Company. The project is estimated to cost one million Ghana Cedis and is expected to be completed within one year.

He noted that there are currently no dedicated cancer centres in the southern part of the country apart from those in Accra and Kumasi. The establishment of the facility at Dzodze will therefore be a major boost to healthcare delivery, serving not only the Volta Region but neighbouring areas as well.

During the launch, an appeal for funds yielded GH¢42,000. Regulus Investment presented a cheque of GH¢100,000 as seed money for the project, while Providence Insurance Company donated GH¢20,000.

The event was graced by the representative of the Volta Regional Minister, MMDCEs, members of the clergy, traditional authorities and health workers.

Authorities have appealed to well-meaning individuals, particularly citizens of the Volta Region, to support the project to ensure its successful completion.
