Accra, Sept. 18, 24HourNews – The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has dismissed claims linking members of government or the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to investigations into cocaine trafficking through Ghana’s borders.
Speaking on Channel One Newsroom on Thursday, September 17, 2026, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said no evidence has been presented so far implicating any government official or NDC member in the ongoing investigations.
“You folks, as you speak, nobody has put forward any evidence of the involvement of any member of government or any member of the party,” he said.
“It is imperative that we avoid this kind of speculation and rumour-mongering when there is no basis for it,” he added.
His comments follow President John Dramani Mahama’s meeting with security chiefs on Thursday over major cocaine seizures linked to Ghana, including nearly 3.9 tonnes of cocaine seized by French customs authorities from a container shipped from Ghana.
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu stressed that none of the 10 persons currently in custody in connection with the investigations is a member of government.
“None of the people in custody at the moment is a member of government,” he stated.
