GRIDCo Begins Community Engagement Phase of RoW Clearance After Minister’s Ultimatum.

Accra – Aug. 29 – 24HourNews – The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has commenced the Community Engagement phase of its Right-of-Way (RoW) Clearance Campaign.

The rollout follows a week-long social media campaign and an ultimatum issued by the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, urging encroachers to voluntarily vacate the transmission line Right-of-Way.

GRIDCo says persons who fail to vacate by the September 12 deadline risk forceful removal.

The exercise is being carried out with support from the Information Services Department (ISD), the Ghana Police Service and the Corporate Communications Section. A team from the Land Management Department, made up of RoW staff, the RoW Task Force and the Security Section, is sensitising affected communities on the dangers of encroachment and the benefits of keeping the RoW clear.

The ongoing engagement, which has covered areas from Ashaiman to Afienya, will continue for the next two weeks.
