TTH Strengthens Emergency Response Through New Referral System.

 

Tamale – Aug. 28 – 24HourNews – The Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) has strengthened its emergency response through the introduction of a new referral system to improve patient care and reduce delays.

At Tamale Teaching Hospital, management says when a patient arrives in an emergency, time is not just important, it can be life-saving. That is why the hospital is working closely with the Ministry of Health (MoH) to strengthen how it manages beds, receives referrals and responds to patients who need urgent care.

As part of the initiative, TTH, in collaboration with the MoH, has trained designated Bed Management Coordinators from various wards and units on the new National Integrated Bed Management and Referral Coordination System (NIBMRCS). The system will provide real-time information on bed availability, helping teams communicate faster, allocate beds more efficiently and coordinate referrals.

According to the hospital, this is more than a new digital system. It is about reducing the “No Bed Syndrome”, improving patient flow and ensuring that when someone needs care, the facility is better prepared to respond.

The training was facilitated by TTH Bed Managers Apala Peter and Seidu Awudu, with support from Songose Aishetu, Facility Administrator from the Ministry of Health.

Through this partnership, TTH continues to strengthen its systems and personnel to deliver safer, faster and more responsive care.
