NHIA Inspects Claims Processing Centre Tamale Project Site.

Tamale – Aug. 28 – 24HourNews – A  team of directors from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has paid a working visit to the project site of the office complex for the Claims Processing Centre (CPC) Tamale.

The team was led by the Ag. Director for Claims, Dr. Abigail Nyarko Cudjoe Derkyi-Kwarteng, and included Mr. Isaac G. Akonde, Ag. Director for Anti-Fraud and Illegal Payments, Mr. Francis Zuure Sampana, Ag. Deputy Director of Claims, and Mr. Alhassan Abdulai, the Northern Regional Director. The visit took place on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

Upon arrival, they were received by the Contractor Project Manager, Mr. Kwesi Andoh, and the Project Architect, Mr. K. Anim Gyarteng, who took them around the site to observe current works including foundational work, power plant installation, site offices and casting of concrete.

During a roundtable discussion, the project handlers, Amalgamated Group, gave details of work levels and challenges identified.

The Contractor Project Manager indicated that but for bad weather and challenges with utility connection to the project site, they were on course to have hit the planned progress of 5.5% completion. Due to the unforeseen challenges, the project tracking is at 4.5%.

Mr. Andoh also said one key challenge is the long-distance travel to Bolgatanga to get the best chippings and fine sand for the work, which has contributed to the slow progression of the project.

On worker safety, Dr. Derkyi-Kwarteng advised that the workers be enrolled onto the NHIS by the contractor, which he said would be taken care of.

The Northern Regional Director sought to find out if traditional rulers were still worrying them about the land. Both the Project Architect and Contractor Project Manager indicated that there was rather collaboration from the regional lands office to continue work while documentation is being finalised by the regional office.

Other staff of the Authority at the meeting included Mr. Abdul-Manan Issahaku, Quality Assurance Manager, regional office, Mr. Adjei Kadri, Provider Relations Manager, CPC Tamale, Mr. Abdul-Manaan Sani, Manager Facilities, CPC Tamale, as well as drivers for the CPC and the Regional office.
