Interior Ministry, GFA To Collaborate On Security Services Sports Games.

Accra – Aug. 28 – 24HourNews – The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Kurt Okraku, has called on the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, to discuss the revival of the Security Services Sports Games (SESSA Games).

The meeting, held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Ministry of the Interior in Accra, explored modalities for the full revival of the games.

Mr. Okraku noted that the security services are endowed with enormous sporting talent excelling in various disciplines, and reviving the inter-security games will not only foster unity and cohesion among the services but will also serve as a major talent pool for Ghana football.

In response, the Interior Minister assured the GFA President that since assuming office, he has established a committee to develop modalities for the revival of the games, adding that the games are scheduled for November this year.

According to the Minister, sports goes beyond security duties. When security agencies come together to compete, it builds camaraderie, discipline and teamwork, while also unearthing football talents that can feed into the national teams.

He noted that although this year’s games will be held at the national level, going forward, he plans to start the games from the district and regional levels before progressing to the national level, to ensure full participation and to harness talents from all levels.

Hon. Muntaka reiterated government’s commitment to supporting the initiative to ensure the SESSA Games return to their former glory.
