CDD-Ghana Engages Parliament On Conduct Of Public Officers Bill

Accra – Aug. 28 – 24HourNews – As part of the Strengthening the Rule of Law and the Fight Against Corruption through Citizen Support for the Office of the Special Prosecutor – Ghana and Codifying Public Ethics Rules project, CDD-Ghana, together with its partners, has engaged with Parliament of Ghana’s Select Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs on the Conduct of Public Officers (COPO) Bill.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the coalition to present its concerns and proposed amendments to the bill and advocate for a stronger framework for promoting ethical conduct, integrity and accountability among public officers.

The delegation called for tightening loopholes in asset declaration, conflict of interest provisions, post-employment restrictions, and sanctions for non-compliance to ensure the bill meets international standards.

The project is supported by the Participation, Accountability and Integrity for a Resilient Democracy (PAIReD) program, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), co-financed by the European Union in Ghana (EU) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), and implemented by GIZ Ghana in partnership with the Ministry of Finance, Ghana.
