Big Push Electrification Project Will Improve Power Reliability In Volta Region – Ketu North MP

Ho – Aug. 28 – 24HourNews – The Member of Parliament for Ketu North Constituency, Hon. Eric Edem Agbana, says the newly launched Big Push Electrification Project will significantly improve power reliability across the Volta Region.

In addition to launching the project, which will connect 206 more communities in the Volta Region to the National Grid, the Minister for Energy and Green Transition also handed over the site for the expansion of the Asiekpe Substation and the construction of a new 161kV transmission line from Asiekpe to Ho, including a new 161kV substation at Ho.

According to Hon. Agbana, within 12 months, the project will significantly improve power reliability across the region and could virtually eliminate the intermittent outages currently experienced.

He explained that the Region currently relies on a 69kV transmission line, a legacy infrastructure that has served for several decades. The new project will upgrade that capacity to 161kV, making it the biggest investment in the Region’s transmission infrastructure in decades.

“I engaged the contractors, and they assured me of completing the project within 12 months,” he disclosed.

The MP described the project as the highlight of the Energy Minister, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor’s visit to the Region, adding that he is beside himself with joy and looks forward to its completion.

“We are grateful to President Mahama, Dr. John Jinapor, Hon. James Gunu, and all stakeholders who helped make this possible. The journey remains forward,” he added.
