GMTF Partners Sweden Ghana Medical Centre To Expand Access To Cancer Treatment

Accra – Aug. 27 – 24HourNews – Access to advanced cancer care for Ghanaians is set to improve following a new partnership between the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) and the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre (SGMC).

The two institutions have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide eligible patients with access to specialized diagnosis and treatment services at SGMC.

Under the agreement, GMTF beneficiaries will be able to access critical services such as radiotherapy and PET scan services – two advanced technologies that are crucial for the accurate diagnosis, effective treatment and monitoring of cancer cases.

The partnership is aimed at easing the financial burden that comes with cancer treatment, which remains out of reach for many families.

For the Administrator of GMTF, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, the MoU is centered on putting the patient first.

“No Ghanaian battling cancer should be denied critical treatment simply because they cannot afford it,” she noted.

With the addition of SGMC to its growing network of healthcare providers, the GMTF says it is expanding access, bringing hope closer and ensuring more patients can receive the life-saving care they need.

The Trust maintains that when it comes to saving lives, cost should never be the barrier.
