C/R: Minister Inspects Ongoing Prison School Project At Awutu Camp Prison.

Awutu – Aug. 27 – 24HourNews – The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Eduamoah Okyere Ekow Panyin, on Tuesday, August 26, 2026, inspected the ongoing construction of a fully-fledged elementary school for the Awutu Camp Prison as part of his Accounting to the People tour.

The project, which is being funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), is about 35 percent complete and is expected to be completed in eight months.

According to the Officer-in-Charge of the prison, the school when completed will provide educational opportunities for wards of officers as well as officers who are transferred to Awutu.

The Minister advised that prison lands be protected from encroachment and recommended the provision of solar power and boreholes to support the facility.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Seth Serwornu-Banini, who joined the Minister during the inspection, said plans are underway to request additional land for a possible Senior High School and urged stakeholders to expedite work to meet the deadline.
