11 Arrested, Weapons Retrieved As Military-Police Team Raids Kromase Near Nkwanta

Accra – Aug. 27 – 24HourNews – A joint team of military and police personnel has arrested 11 suspects and seized weapons and security accoutrements during an intelligence-led operation at Kromase, near Nkwanta in the Oti Region.

The dawn operation, carried out on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, was led by the Combat Team Commander, Major Muktar Saani, and formed part of Exercise STARLIGHT STRETCH III – an ongoing Ghana Army exercise designed to boost readiness against emerging security threats.

According to a security brief, the joint team stormed targeted premises at Kromase based on credible intelligence and conducted a thorough cordon and search operation that lasted until about 8:30 a.m.

Items retrieved during the swoop included a pump-action gun, live ammunition, body armour, a locally manufactured ammunition belt and a police uniform.

The 11 suspects, together with the exhibits, were escorted to the operational base and are currently in custody assisting both the military and police with investigations.

Security sources say the successful operation underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-led actions and strengthened inter-agency collaboration in restoring and maintaining peace in the Nkwanta enclave, which has witnessed sporadic disturbances in recent times.
