We Must Tell Our True History To Youth And Diaspora – Abla Dzifa Gomashie.

 

Accra – Aug. 25 – 24HourNews – Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has called for deliberate efforts to educate young people and people of African descent about Ghana’s true history.

 

She made the call during discussions with a Danish delegation on a proposed pilot project to preserve and restore the Osu Castle.

The project, which is being supported with a proposed DKK 1 million in funding, is aimed at strengthening Ghana-Denmark cooperation in heritage preservation and historical interpretation.

 

According to the Minister, preserving forts and castles should go beyond protecting buildings and must ensure that accurate, balanced and meaningful stories are told to future generations.

 

She noted that Ghana is also partnering with South Korea on the restoration of six UNESCO World Heritage Sites, a move she says demonstrates the country’s commitment to building international partnerships to safeguard its cultural heritage.
