Thomas Partey Begins New Chapter In Saudi As He Joins Al Shabab.

Riyadh – Aug. 22 – 24HourNews – Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has begun a new chapter in his career after completing a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab.

The 33-year-old joined the Riyadh-based club on a free transfer on Thursday, August 21, 2026, signing a one-year deal after leaving Spanish side Villarreal at the end of last season.

Al-Shabab announced the deal with a video on X, describing him as “a world star lights up the north of the capital.”

Partey brings vast European experience to the Lions. He made 188 appearances for Atletico Madrid, winning the Europa League in 2018 and LaLiga in 2020/21, and made 167 appearances for Arsenal between 2020 and 2025.

Last season, he featured 32 times for Villarreal across all competitions before the club opted not to renew his contract.

At Al Shabab, he will join former Premier League players Josh Brownhill and Daniel Podence, and his former Atletico teammate Yannick Carrasco, as the club looks to strengthen its midfield for the new Roshn League season.
