Dzodze, Aug. 10, 24Hour News – The Municipal Chief Executive of Ketu North, Hon. Rev. Martin Amenaki, on Monday led a joint team of engineers from the Urban Roads Department and the Ketu North Municipal Assembly to inspect two priority feeder roads in the municipality.
The inspection covered the 3.5-kilometre Tadzi Junction through Tadzi Town to Kuli Junction road, and the 2.5-kilometre Kuli through Dzogbefume and Awayikope to Keta-Metsrikasa road. Both roads are to be reshaped to a width of 10 metres.
Hon. Amenaki said engineers assessed the current condition of the roads, identified drainage challenges, and noted sections that become impassable during the rainy season. The team also engaged residents and community leaders to understand the difficulties they face daily.
He noted that for too long, residents of Tadzi, Kuli, Dzogbefume and Awayikope had struggled with poor road conditions, which made it difficult for farmers to transport produce, increased transport costs for traders, and delayed students getting to school.
He said the Assembly had moved quickly to address the feeder roads because good roads connect farms to markets, children to schools and communities to opportunities.
Following the inspection, the MCE announced that Pavic Construction Company Limited would undertake the reshaping of the 3.5-kilometre Tadzi Junction through Tadzi Town to Kuli Junction road, while Brieden Constructors Limited would undertake the reshaping of the 2.5-kilometre Kuli-Dzogbefume through Awayikope to Keta-Metsrikasa road.
He said both companies would begin mobilisation this week, with the aim of reshaping the two stretches to 10 metres wide and making them motorable within the next few months.
Hon. Amenaki reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to opening up all major feeder roads in Ketu North, adding that improved roads would boost business, reduce post-harvest losses and improve livelihoods.
He thanked the Urban Roads Department for its technical support and called on chiefs, assembly members and residents of Tadzi, Kuli, Dzogbefume and Awayikope to cooperate with the contractors as work begins.
