ANYANUI-WEDANU, Aug. 9, 24HourNews – The MP for Anlo, Hon. Richard Kwame Sefe, has presented 10 ACm centrifugal water pumps to the Peculiar Ladies Association to boost their farming this season.
The donation is meant to help the women get reliable access to water for their farms as planting and cultivation activities pick up across the constituency.
The Peculiar Ladies Association has over 50 members who are engaged in farming, fishing and small-scale trading to support their households. For many of them, farming is both a source of food and income.
According to Hon. Sefe, the support is part of efforts to strengthen women-led livelihoods and ensure they can fully benefit from the current agricultural season.
He said improving irrigation capacity for women groups will go a long way to increase yields, reduce the burden of manual watering, and raise household incomes in Anyanui-Wedanu and nearby communities.
Leaders of the Association received the pumps with appreciation, noting that the equipment will make farm work easier and help them expand production.
The intervention also underscores the growing focus on equipping women in coastal and agrarian communities with practical tools to improve productivity.
With the pumps now available, the women are set to begin irrigation work in earnest — hoping to turn better water access into bigger harvests and more stable livelihoods this year.
