Weta, Volta Region – 24Hour News – August 4, 2026_ – Mamaga Ablewor Ashiakpor IV, Paramount Queen Mother of the Weta Traditional Area, is appealing for the urgent reestablishment of a police station at Ehi to improve security and law enforcement in the community.
According to Mamaga Ablewor IV, Ehi is a fast-growing community experiencing increased commercial activity and a rising population. However, the lack of a police station is making it difficult to respond quickly to crime and maintain law and order.
“Residents often travel long distances to access police services,” she stated. “This delay puts lives, property, and businesses at risk.”
The Queen Mother said the absence of a nearby police presence has become a major challenge for residents, traders, and farmers who need timely security intervention.
She is therefore requesting approval and support from government, the Ghana Police Service, and relevant stakeholders to reestablish a police station at Ehi to serve not only the community but the entire Weta Traditional Area.
Mamaga Ablewor IV noted that a police station in Ehi would improve response time, deter crime, and give residents confidence to go about their daily activities.
The Volta Regional Police Command temporarily closed down the Ehi Police Post in the Ketu North Municipality in November last year after an angry mob attacked the facility and assaulted officers on duty.
The attack followed the arrest of a 25-year-old suspect, Kofi Agbavitor, who allegedly stabbed 32-year-old Julius Sablah to death.
Community members have backed the call, saying improved security infrastructure is critical as Ehi continues to grow as a commercial hub.
