The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, today presented cheques of GHS 10,000 each to the first 10 beneficiaries of the Volta Youth Development Fund, his flagship initiative to support young entrepreneurs across the region.
The presentation marks the first disbursement since the Fund was launched on 7th March 2026.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Gunu said the Fund was established to tackle youth unemployment by providing financial support, mentorship, and opportunities for young people to build sustainable businesses.

He commended the Board of the Fund, chaired by Togbe Komla Sakpiti V, and the Administrator, Mr. Stephen D. K. Timinca, for their commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the initiative.
The Regional Minister congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to use the support responsibly to grow their businesses and become ambassadors of the Fund.

My hope is that their success stories will inspire many more young people to pursue entrepreneurship with confidence,” he stated.
Hon. Gunu also appealed to corporate organisations, development partners, philanthropists, and all well-meaning individuals to partner in expanding the Fund to empower more young people and build a prosperous Volta Region.
The Volta Youth Development Fund will provide subsequent batches of beneficiaries with seed capital, business training, and mentorship as part of the regional government’s job creation agenda.
