Keta MP Welcomes Ghana’s First Female Auditor-General, Pledges PAC Support

Member of Parliament for Keta, Hon. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, today welcomed the newly appointed Auditor-General, Dr. Pamela Graham, and her management team during a courtesy call on the Public Accounts Committee, PAC, of Parliament.

Hon. Gakpey, a member of the Committee, congratulated Dr. Graham on her appointment, describing it as historic.

“I congratulated her on her historic appointment as Ghana’s first female Auditor-General and reaffirmed the Committee’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with her office,” he said.

The meeting focused on deepening institutional ties between the Audit Service and PAC to improve financial accountability across the public sector.

Hon. Gakpey stressed the need to move beyond audit reports to actual implementation of recommendations by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

“We must enhance accountability, ensure the effective implementation of audit recommendations, and promote transparency in the management of public resources,” he noted.

Dr. Graham, who was sworn in earlier this month, thanked the Committee for the warm reception and pledged to work closely with Parliament to protect the public purse. She outlined priorities including timely audits, digitalization of audit processes, and stronger follow-up mechanisms.

The Public Accounts Committee is mandated to examine the audited accounts of government and state institutions, and make recommendations to Parliament for corrective action.

Hon. Gakpey said the Committee stands ready to support the new Auditor-General to deliver on her mandate and restore greater public confidence in state institutions.
